Apologies for late publishing...
.... I am using up SOOO much time removing the spam from the database. It looks like I will have to find some way to distinguish young writers from spambots that just post American car URLs unendingly into the Kids on the Net submission forms (and worse types of sites, of course....).
I could really dislike these people.... On Kids on the Net everything is moderated so it will never see the light of day (NOTE TO SPAMMERS!!!!!) but they just set their machines onto us anyway.
I worry that those captcha images - that you have to identify the strange letters in, you'll have seen them elsewhere? - are too difficult to read and will put off my young writers. Which I would hate to see happen.
Still, there's a great way to distinguish humans from robots by identifying pictures of kittens - I reckon the kids could manage that! But until I find someone a bit more techie than me who can add this to my forms, then editing is going to be slow, because I have to pick out your lovely stories and poems and book reviews from among the spam.
If anyone out there could implement a captcha like KittenAuth or similar in coldfusion, please let me know.
