Pulse - Youth Arts inspired by biomedical science

Pulse is a Wellcome Trust funding initiative to support arts projects that engage young people with issues in biomedical science.

Pulse 1, which ran in 2003/04 supported 23 performing arts projects. Pulse 2 will fund projects in performing arts (dance, drama, music, live arts), visual arts, craft, photography, film, creative writing and new media. Projects can be developed by, with or for young people (up to age 22) and experimental and accessible projects are encouraged.

The scheme has two streams: grants for research and development or small-scale production (up to £10,000); and grants for production or larger-scale projects (up to £50,000). A total of £400,000 will be available in 2005. The next deadline for applications is 7 October.

Application packs can be downloaded from Wellcome.ac.uk/pulse, requested by phone on 020 7611 8222, or by email via pulse@wellcome.ac.uk
